Our name, Zucchini Kill, is inspired by the 90’s feminist riot grrrl band, Bikini Kill! Their music and politics made a big impact on us as young women in the punk scene. Zucchini Kill is our homage to feminist punk pioneers, and we try to incorporate music into everything we do! You’ll find that we name lots of our products after bands/musicians we love. LOCATIONS:

Q: Where the hell are you located?
A: We have two locations!

Our original location is 701 E 53RD ST at the corner of Martin and E 53rd St. This area is called Wyrd Wood Village, and we are in the main building behind Yarrow and Sage. Our entrance is in the food park area, in the back part of the building. This is hard to see from the street. Park and walk towards the building to find us!

Our second location is at 2908 Fruth St B Unit 101. This is on the property formerly known as Spiderhouse, currently called Tweedy's Bar. Our location is on the back patio, and you can enter from the alley behind Flamingo's Vintage and Spiderhouse Ballroom. OR, from Tweedy's main entrance on Fruth St. Park, and walk on the patio bar to find us!

INGREDIENTS:

Q- Is everything made with zucchini?
A- Not everything, but we make killer organic Zucchini Bread! We do use squash (usually pumpkin) to add moisture in most items.

Q- Is everything vegan?
A- HELL YES. Everything we bake is free of dairy, eggs, honey, artificial food dye, and bone-char derived ingredients.

A- Yes. We use certified gluten free flour, and also bake in a dedicated gluten free kitchen.

Q- Is everything soy free?
A- Everything we bake is soy free. We do not use products that contain soy lecithin.

A- NO. We use an array of nuts in our kitchen including but not limited to…peanuts, walnuts, almonds, pistachios, and pecans. We cannot guarantee there will not be cross contamination with nuts.

Q- Is everything grain free?
A- No, we use rice flours in a lot of our products.

Q- Is anything rice free?
A- Most of our cupcakes are made with a flour blend that does not include rice, but the toppings could include rice (example: Cookies n Cream contains our housemade cookie crumbs that include rice flour). Check ingredients labels before consumption.

Q- Is anything free of potato starch?
A- We use potato starch in all of our cakes and cupcakes, and most chocolate items. Items that do not include potato starch are: Waffle Pies, Vanilla Cream Coffins, Chocolate Chip Cookies, and Rosemary Cookies.

Q- Is anything oil free?
A- We do not currently offer oil-free options.

Q- Is anything yeast free?
A- We do not currently use active yeast in any of our dessert products. We do keep nutritional yeast on hand as an add in for certain flavors of products. Our sliced bread and burger buns do contain instant yeast.

A- We use organic, vegan, evaporated cane sugar in most of our products. We do offer sugar-free cupcakes that are made with stevia and erythritol for custom orders.

Q- Is anything corn free?
A- We do not use corn products. Our baking powder is corn free, and our powdered sugar is made with tapioca, not corn. We do use xanthan gum by Bob’s Red Mill that is a byproduct of bacteria grown on corn, but it does not contain corn protein. Please use discretion if you have a severe corn allergy.

A- The base of our frostings is non hydrogenated, organic Spectrum shortening, and Soy Free Earth Balance. These consist of sustainable Columbian palm fruit, canola oil, olive oil, filtered water, pure salt, sunflower lecithin, beet lactic acid, annatto extract. We also use organic powdered sugar, tapioca starch, and pure vanilla extract, and all natural colors.

HOW TO TAKE CARE OF PRODUCTS

Q- What is the shelf life of your products?
A- Most baked goods are good for up to 4 days at room temperature after purchase. If you do not plan on eating right away, put your products immediately in the freezer for up to one month. Thaw by placing items on the counter overnight (atleast 6 hours).
We recommend eating donuts, muffins, and zucchini bread up to 2 days after purchase, and these do not freeze well.

Q- Can I refrigerate your products?
A- We do not recommend refrigerating our items, as they tend to get hard and dried out in the fridge. It is best to leave them at room temperature.

Q- Can I freeze your products?
A- Our products hold up really well in the freezer. If they go in fresh, they will come out fresh. We recommend freezing for up to one month. They are best thawed by leaving them on the counter overnight, or at least 6 hours before consumption.
